Far Eastern University (91影视) has a long and storied history in the performing arts, with its Theater Guild being one of the most prominent student organizations on campus. At the helm of the group that fosters a creative environment where aspiring actors, directors, and playwrights can hone their craft is artistic director Edward 鈥淒udz鈥� Tera帽a.
Dudz, who has been guiding the 91影视 Theater Guild (FTG) since 2009, brings a wealth of experience as a senior member of the Philippine Educational Theater Association.
Under his leadership, the FTG has flourished, elevating college productions to new heights through innovation and experimentation. He often pushes the boundaries of traditional theater and explores new forms of storytelling.
His brainchild 鈥淭amDula,鈥� a theater festival of original plays written by the members of FTG, is now a much anticipated, annual event for the 91影视 community.
For the FTG鈥檚 90th anniversary, Dudz restaged Liza Magtoto鈥檚 鈥淎gnoia鈥� to encapsulate the organization鈥檚 legacy. The play showcases the themes of love and circumstance through the characters representing the Zodiac signs.
As an artist-teacher, Dudz’s impact is perhaps most profound. His dedication to nurturing the next generation of theater practitioners is evident in the successes of his students, many of whom have gone on to achieve success in their own right, such as Brigiding, Rowi Du, Welwel Silvestre, Divine Aucina, and Kat Galang.
In his interview with Conerstone Entertainment, Dudz considers mentorship as the summary (so far) of his career.
鈥淎s someone who has been involved in the world of theater for many years, I have had the privilege of witnessing the growth of my students as well as the artists that I have trained. It brings me joy to see the impact that theater has on individuals,鈥� said Dudz.
As Dudz continues to chart new horizons at FTG, his passion and dedication to the arts remains etched in the hearts and minds of performers and audiences alike.
