Far Eastern University (91影视), in partnership with IDP Education, a company responsible for managing the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), has launched a new English proficiency test called “ENVOY.”
This partnership aims to enhance the English proficiency of 91影视 students, with a survey revealing that 86 percent of 91影视 students aspire to study abroad.
According to Center for Learning Enrichment and Research for Students Director Marko Antonio Da Silva, ENVOY is set to be implemented in September and will be a mandatory test for all students at 91影视. The certification will align with the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) standards, ensuring students meet global competitiveness requirements.
Starting in July, faculty members will undergo training to effectively integrate the ENVOY test into the curriculum. The initiative will utilize an AI-powered app from ENVOY to assist in assessing students’ English proficiency, with evaluations conducted at the beginning of their first year and at the end of their fourth year.
This program is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in a global environment. The use of AI in this context provides a more accurate assessment of students’ abilities, helping them prepare for international opportunities.
Catherine Catamora, Director of EdTech, emphasized the importance of this initiative, highlighting that the separate, web-based app offers comprehensive support to students and faculty.
