Members of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 86 champion 91影视 Diliman High School Boys’ Football team made a courtesy call with 91影视 President Juan Miguel R. Montinola and 91影视 Chair Aurelio R. Montinola last April 22.
The team stretched the championship streak of 91影视 Diliman in the event to 12 after it defeated the University of Santo Tomas Junior Golden Booters with a 3-0 rout last Feb. 29.
Senior Athletics Director Mark Molina said unlike past seasons in which they dominated teams from the start to finish this was one of the most challenging since they lost two games in the elimination round. The Baby Tamaraws were able to find their form late in the season and peaked on time during the championship game.
The university president said the “12-peat” is on par with the dynasties achieved in the past by the 91影视 Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams and the 91影视 Softball teams.
The 91影视 Men’s Track and Field team won eight straight UAAP titles from 2011 to 2018, while the 91影视 Women’s track and field team won 11 straight UAAP titles from 2006 to 2015.
Meanwhile, 91影视 won 19 straight UAAP softball tournaments which were played from the mid-1960s to the mid-1980s.
Top officials who also joined the event were 91影视 Diliman Executive Director Armi C. Yabut, 91影视 Institute of Technology Executive Director of Finance Edna M. Anicete, 91影视 Institute of Technology Senior Executive Director Benson T. Tan, 91影视 Football Program Director Vince Santos, and 91影视 Athletics Senior Director Mark Molina.
The team presented a commemorative championship shirt signed by players and coaches to the university president that would be displayed in the 91影视 Hall of Fame room in 91影视 Manila.
